DONATED CLOTHES END UP ABANDONED IN THE STREET WHILE FAMILIES STILL NEED HELP

On Lázaro Cárdenas Boulevard, heaps of clothing donated for flood victims are exposed to the weather. Garments that arrived as humanitarian aid are now covered in dust and mud, being wasted on public roads while thousands of families affected by the overflow of the Cazones River continue to need support.

🏘️ Neighbors of the hardest-hit colonies deeply regret this situation. After losing almost everything last October 10 when the water reached up to 7 meters high, seeing abandoned help generates more frustration. "The people save the people" has become the motto of the people of Pozarric, who for days organize solidarity corridors to exchange food, water and basic necessities.

The tragedy has so far left 29 people dead and 18 missing in Veracruz. In colonies like September 27, Lázaro Cárdenas and Las Granjas the water is still stagnant, the mud reaches the knee and the smell is unbearable by the dead animals. Residents complain that government aid has been insufficient and disorganized.

  • Thousands of families lost everything in minutes
  • The Welfare census is slowly moving house by house
  • Volunteers like Ricardo Villa have become heroes rescuing people

💔 What hurts the neighbors the most is that while they organize to share even "a glass of atole" among the damaged, tons of clothes that could serve families who lost everything are thrown to the streets, exposed to the same mud that they so much it's been hard to start to clean.
