Indonesia's team is confirmed to fail to advance to the 2026 World Cup after suffering two defeats over Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Addressing this failure, PSSI General Chairman, Erick Thohir, conveys an official apology to all the people of Indonesia. 


Asa Indonesia is knocked out after suffering second defeat in Group B Asia Zone Qualifiers. In the match in Jeddah on Sunday (12/10) early morning, Indonesia narrowly lost 0-1 to Iraq. 

This result worsens Indonesia's record, which had previously conquered 2-3 from Saudi Arabia. With zero points from two matches, Indonesia is down to the key position of Group B, which simultaneously closes all their chances of appearing in the final round of the 2026 World Cup. 


Team Indonesia player Thom Haye was seen crying on the pitch after Indonesia's defeat to Iraq. His chances of playing at the World Cup have now apparently gone, as by the 2030 edition he will be 35 and is most likely past his peak performance. 

The General Chairman of the All Indonesia Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir apologized to all elements of the Indonesian community following the demise of Indonesia qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. 


Kendati so, he highlights the historical achievement of the team that has managed to go the furthest step in the history of the participation of Indonesia, i.e. reaching the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
