Cristiano Ronaldo has once again made history — this time off the pitch. Following the renewal of his contract with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, the Portuguese superstar’s fortune has now been estimated at an incredible €1.2 billion, making him the first footballer to surpass the billion-euro mark in career wealth.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Ronaldo’s new deal with Al-Nassr, signed in June, added another €344 million to his growing empire. The 40-year-old forward also extended his stay with the Saudi club — where he reportedly holds a 15% ownership stake — until 2027.
But his wealth isn’t just from football. Bloomberg highlighted Ronaldo’s lucrative endorsements, which have played a major role in building his fortune. Over his career, he has earned $550 million (€473 million) in player wages from 2002 to 2023, $18 million (€15.5 million) from his decade-long Nike contract, and another $175 million (€150.6 million) from partnerships with global brands such as Armani and Castrol.
Beyond the financial milestones, Ronaldo continues to dominate social media, boasting over 665 million Instagram followers — the highest of any footballer worldwide.
This week, Ronaldo attended the Portugal Football Globes Gala, where he received the Prestige Award. Reflecting on the honor, he said,
“It’s not a career-ending award. I see it as recognition of years of effort, dedication, and ambition. Competing with younger players still motivates me — I’m passionate about it.”
The Portugal captain also spoke candidly about his love for the game and his future in football:
“People, especially my family, tell me it’s time to stop — that I’ve done it all. But I don’t think that way. I’m still contributing and enjoying what I do. I know I don’t have many years left, but I’ll make the most of the time I have.”
With unmatched drive and a fortune to match, Cristiano Ronaldo proves that even after two decades at the top, his hunger for success — and his love for football — remain as strong as ever.
