Venice Film Festival 2025: Cinema Meets High Fashion on the Canals

Venice, Italy — Italy’s most celebrated film festival is in full swing, with the canals once again serving as the glamorous gateway to the red carpet. Now in its 82nd edition, the Venice Film Festival will run until September 6, showcasing some of the year’s most anticipated films and star-studded premieres.

This year’s lineup features an impressive mix of global storytelling:

    “Bugonia” by acclaimed Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos

    “Frankenstein” by visionary filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro

    “Jay Kelly” by celebrated director Noah Baumbach

Another standout is Sofia Coppola’s first-ever documentary, “Marc by Sofia”, which chronicles the life and career of fashion icon Marc Jacobs. While the film is not competing for a prize, its debut adds extra buzz to the festival’s diverse offerings.

👗 Fashion Takes Center Stage

Beyond the cinema, the Venice red carpet is doubling as a runway, previewing the future of luxury fashion:Italian actress Alba Rohrwacher dazzled in a custom deep blue satin Dior gown, designed by Jonathan Anderson. His first official womenswear collection for Dior will debut in Paris this October.

Julia Roberts and Amanda Seyfried both unveiled the first creations of Versace’s new creative director, Dario Vitale, ahead of his Milan debut later this month.

Actor Jacob Elordi and actress Vicky Krieps showcased the refined vision of Louise Trotter for Bottega Veneta.

Rising star Ayo Edebiri graced the red carpet in Chanel, designed under the new leadership of Matthieu Blazy.
